Associate Professor Wong Mun Loke is presently the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the National University of Singapore.  Concurrently, he oversees the planning, management and operationalisation of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme as Vice Dean (Academic Affairs).  In this role, he plays an instrumental part in undergraduate admissions; curriculum planning, review and quality assurance as well as the development and management of policies related to teaching, learning and assessments in the Faculty.

As a specialist in Dental Public Health, Mun Loke is also the Director, Discpline of Primary Dental Care and Population Oral Health in the Faculty.  He works closely with his other Dental Public Health and general dental practitioner colleagues to drive initiatives to improve population oral health through education, research and clinical services.  He is also the                        Co-Ordinator of the undergraduate Dental Public Health programme where he helms a significant part of the teaching.  In addition, he plans and delivers the Behavioural Science programme in the pre-clinical and clinical phases of the BDS programme.  Beyond the undergraduate programme, Mun Loke’s interest in Geriatric Dentistry led him to assume an active role in the conceptualisation, planning and implementation of a new Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Dentistry launched in 2019. 

A firm believer of collaborative practice across the healthcare professions, Mun Loke values inter-professional and cross-disciplinary engagements.  In line with this, he was the Co-Chair of the NUS Inter-Professional Education Steering Committee which sought to develop opportunities for students in Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Phramacy and Social Work to work collaboratively on a broad range of health issues.  Mun Loke also shares his oral health knowledge through his teaching in the undergraduate Pharmacy and Medical curricula as well as in Family Medicie residency training.

With his interest in and passion for education, he is involved in various aspects of higher education.  He is presently a Fellow with the NUS Teaching Academy which aims to inspire and encourage excellence in teaching through professional development and regular engagements with fellow educator peers to exchange ideas and best practices in education.  Regionally, Mun Loke is a Council Member of the South East Asia Dental Education Association.

On the research front, Mun Loke engages in collaborative research endeavours which span a diverse variety of areas including dental education.

At the end of this workshop, participants will have a common understanding of the principles of reflective learning; be able to design appropriate reflective learning activities for students; be able to use reflective learning responses effectively to help their students as learners and themselves as educators.
