Professor Dr Rosnah Zain is currently the Dean of Faculty of Dentistry, MAHSA University. She has previously served the University of Malaya as an academic and in various administrative positions for about 34 years, including being Dean for 4 years at the Dental Faculty. She has been involved in Teaching and Learning, Undergraduate and Postgraduate Curriculum Development. She has published widely in the areas of Oral Cancer, Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders, Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine. Since 1993, Dr Rosnah Zain has been training dentists using clinical oral/visual examination (COE) for early detection of oral cancer. Her structured training package ‘OralDETECT’ has been validated through many training sessions and is currently being used by the Ministry of Health Malaysia and some Dental Schools in Malaysia. This training method has also been used for training-of-trainers (ToT) using the ‘OralDETECT’ training package in Malaysia and some other countries in the region.

Workshop 5 - Training Dental Students and Dentists on Early Detection of Oral Cancer using OralDETECT training programme by Prof. Rosnah Zain and AP Dr. Deepak Pateel

This workshop is to introduce participants to the training tool OralDETECT which is a Spaced Test-Enhanced Repetitive feedback Learning tool. This workshop is suitable for Dental Teachers/Specialists intending to train students/dentists for Early Detection of Oral Cancer.

At the end of the workshop, the participants should be able to:
1.Relate/ recognize the processes involved in training for Early Detection of Oral Cancer using the OralDETECT programme
2.Experiance a process of spaced, test enhanced repetitive feedback in developing competencies in recognizing oral cancer and OPMD
3. Discuss the choice of oral lesions to be selected for effective training on Early Detection of Oral Cancer.
