UP DENTAL CLINIC ADOPTS NEW GUIDELINES TO ENSURE SAFETY IN COVID-19 ERA

The UP Faculty of Dentistry has developed a set of new guidelines to ensure safety for students, staff and patients in this period of the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond. Our existing cross infection control measures and clinic processes have been reviewed, along with recently published international guidelines from the US, UK, NZ, China and Australia. The result is a new 8 page set of clinic guidelines covering: patient screening; cleaning, disinfection and sterilization protocols; personal protective equipment; and patient management protocols.

These new guidelines are more stringent than in the past, and we are confident that all dental procedures can be provided safely. In recent weeks the clinic has been providing only emergency and orthodontic dental care, however it is now ready to start providing routine dental treatment once again. Once UP opens again for dental students, we expect the clinic will return to being busy once again, as many patients have been putting off their dental appointments during this time.
In the meantime, the UP Dental Clinic dentists are ready to welcome patients back, and we will do our best to provide both a safe environment and high quality treatment.
